Help for Heroes

Our second charity in 2011 is Help for Heroes. We hope to raise a significant sum to add to the money raised in 2010 by club members on the Lands End to John O'Groats cycle ride.

In addition, many local charites benefit from this event. Our aim is to give between £1 and £3 per entry to charity - with a fully subscribed race this could be up to £2000.

Essex county race Welcome to micro site for the Wilkin Tiptree 10 mile race for 2011. Here you will find information about the race, our sponsors, entry information. For general club information visit the club website.

This year the race is the county championship race for 10 miles. All eligible county runners should ensure they check the appropriate box on the entry form.

Congratulations to 2010 winners

Paul Molyneux raced to an emphatic victory in the Tiptree 10, setting a new course record and taking the county 10 mile title with a run of 50:58 which saw him more than five and a half minutes clear of three times winner Crispian Bloomfield of Billericay Striders, who ran 56:20.

The ladies race was much closer with Colchester Harriers’ Annette Oakman taking top spot in 65:09, finishing 33rd overall. Penny McCrabbe of Maidenhead Athletic Club was second in 65:33 with Tina Hull of Grange Farm & Dunmow Runners third in 66:58. Kate Mills of Springfield Striders was first F35 in 67:56, followed by Toni Noble of Thurrock Harriers in 68:42. Benfleet Running Club’s Julia Palmer ran 68:45 to take the F45 category and lead her team mates Vanessa Dodds (69:26) and Debbie Gibbins (72:30) to victory in the ladies team event. Lynn Tanner of Springfield Striders was first F55 in 74:18. Full results (pdf)

A great day out!
